Established in 2010, Sioux Lookout Regional Physicians' Services Inc. (SLRPSI) was created to provide innovative, patient-focused physician services in the Sioux Lookout area. Our organization was founded with the aim of governing and managing physician services within the region, and our commitment to that remains strong. In October of 2010 an agreement was signed with the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care, providing a new funding structure for the area’s physicians.
While working under SLRPSI, physicians will have the flexibility to work in a variety of settings, including: the emergency room, clinic, and northern community supports. We have family physicians who work a full scope of practice, filling various roles within the hospital, acting as ER doctors, hospitalists, and locums. This work can occur within Sioux Lookout, or in one of the 31 First Nations communities that we provide health services to.
The Sioux Lookout First Nations Health Authority (SLFNHA) provides administration and management supports to SLRPSI. There are three physician groups, as well as individual physicians, that provide services to Sioux Lookout and the region through contractual agreements.

The Sioux Lookout First Nations Health Authority (SLFNHA) provides dedicated services, advocacy, and leadership in the health of Anishinaabe people across the Sioux Lookout region. SLFNHA was established in March 1990 and is an agency for health-service delivery and client advocacy. Under the direction of First Nations’ leadership, and in accordance with its goals of self-governance and self-determination, SLFNHA represents and addresses the health needs of the 31 First Nations communities in the Sioux Lookout area. SLFNHA wishes to contribute to achieving a healthy vision of individual, family, and community well-being by working in partnership with all jurisdictions within the Anishinaabe health system. In this way, SLFNHA aspires to provide excellence in both health promotion and system organization.
